When You Confront Someone About a Problem and They Hedge, Dodge and Deflect

This particular issue is one that can occur in all sorts of relationships: work relationships with a boss or a co-worker, family members, or a romantic partner.

Here are a few examples of how the problem can appear in a relationship you may have: someone did something that upset you, and they switch the subject and avoid dealing with the issue you brought up; you ask them about something they said or did that was confusing or upsetting, and they dismiss what you're saying and deflect, bringing up unrelated things you have said or done in the past that bothered them; or you ask them to explain something they don't want to be held accountable for, and they respond by coming up with philosophical or complex moral arguments that confuse and distract you.

On my YouTube channel, Dr. Seth Psychologist, I have hundreds of self-improvement videos I've recorded to help improve relationships and overall mindset. You can watch my video on the specific issue of trying to talk to someone about a problem and them pivoting instead of addressing the issue directly.
